Boots

When temperatures fall, men’s boots bring both style and comfort to your wardrobe. In leather or suede, our men’s boots protect your feet and ankles without compromising on style. All are made in our Portuguese workshop using leather and suede sourced from Portugal, Italy and Turkey.

Between the rain and slippery cobblestones, choosing your men’s shoes can soon become a challenge. We’ve designed a collection of men’s boots for every occasion, from the office to the weekend: all that’s left is to find the pair that feels right for you.

Our men’s leather boots: a wardrobe essential

Our men’s leather boots come in five materials, each with its own character:

  • Grained pull-up leather: an oil-rich leather that develops a patina, with colour that deepens at the creases over time. It is used for Hugo and Eugène.

  • Box leather: smooth, dense leather that holds its shape for a structured profile. Liam wears it in black.

  • Grained leather: its pronounced grain stands up well to minor everyday scuffs, as seen on Mopa.

  • Suede: supple and soft to the touch, it gives Mazio and Nevo a more relaxed look.

  • Oiled suede: treated suede with added robustness, featured on Iriel and Navel.

Our men’s nubuck and suede boots are just as suited to the city as they are to weekends away. As for their construction, the leather used for the Hugo, Eugène and Liam is LWG (Leather Working Group) certified, a certification that addresses the environmental impact of tanneries. All our men’s leather boots are also leather-lined, which helps reduce perspiration.

When it comes to colour, the Liam in black leather is a smart boot that works with a suit or raw denim. Brown and cognac, available on most styles, add a warmer touch, while the Mazio’s taupe, the Nevo’s amber and the Navel’s khaki offer a departure from classic shades. Our men’s boots, from understated to statement styles

For an understated look, choose Liam in black box leather with a 4 cm rubber sole, to wear with a suit or wool trousers, or Eugène in brown or cognac grained pull-up leather. Eugène features Blake stitching, a shoemaking technique that makes the sole more flexible and the profile more refined.

More relaxed, Hugo boots pair pull-up leather or suede with a crepe-effect rubber sole: men’s leather boots that work with jeans or chinos. In brown, taupe or amber suede, Mazio and Nevo take over between seasons with a more urban style.

For a bolder look, the Iriel and Navel in oiled suede and the Mopa in grained leather feature more robust lines. The Feno, a lace-up boot with an adjustable fit, comes in brown leather or water-repellent leather for wet days.

Boots and ankle boots refer to the same ankle-height footwear, while taller boots extend up the calf. Among ankle-height styles, Chelsea boots are recognisable by their elastic side panels, while lace-up boots, such as the Feno, offer adjustable lacing. If you’re looking for men’s tall leather boots, ours are the closest alternative: the same leather, the same workshop, with an ankle-height upper.

Which men’s boots should you choose?

To find the right men’s boots for your everyday life, consider how you’ll wear them and your personal style:

  • For everyday wear: a versatile pair in suede or pull-up leather, such as Hugo or Mazio, will take you from the office to the weekend.

  • For wet days: choose Feno in water-repellent leather, with a rubber sole offering better grip on wet cobblestones. For every other pair, apply a waterproofing treatment before the season.

  • For a smart occasion: choose black box leather and a refined profile, like Liam.

  • For long walks: choose flexible construction, such as the Blake stitching on Eugène, which moves with the foot.

  • For a contemporary look: colour makes all the difference, from the Navel in khaki to the Mazio in taupe.

Men’s boots aren’t just for the depths of winter. For warm men’s boots, choose thick leather and a leather lining, paired with wool socks; in milder weather, a suede pair will do.

How should you wear men’s boots?

For smarter outfits, Chelsea boots often come to mind. At Odaje, Liam in black box leather fits the bill, worn with a suit or tailored trousers. The trouser hem should fall over the upper without bunching up.

Men’s lace-up boots work well with raw or black denim. For a polished look, let the hem of your jeans fall naturally over the boots; for a more relaxed style, turn it up slightly above the ankle.

Chinos are another easy pairing: with men’s boots in brown or cognac leather, they create a smart-casual look. Layer up on top with a T-shirt, overshirt, jacket, bomber or biker jacket, then add a coat when temperatures fall for outfits that feel as comfortable as they look polished.

How should you care for your men’s boots?

With proper care, your men’s boots will see you through several seasons:

  • Brush: after each wear to remove dust and dirt.

  • Condition: a balm or polish suited to the colour keeps the leather supple and helps develop the pull-up leather’s patina.

  • Waterproof: apply a waterproofing treatment before the wet season, then leave the boots to air-dry away from radiators, which dry out the leather.

Suede and nubuck are more sensitive to moisture and need separate care: a specialist eraser for small marks, a suitable brush, then a waterproofing spray. Discover all our leather care products to look after your men’s boots.

Answers to frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between boots and ankle boots for men?

There is none: “boots” is simply the English term for footwear that reaches the ankle. Taller boots, by contrast, extend up the calf.

How do Odaje men’s boots fit?

Your boots should hold your feet securely without feeling tight: choose your usual size and consult our size guide if in doubt. You have 15 days to try your pair, with free returns if they’re not right for you.

Does pull-up leather develop a patina over time?

Yes, that is one of its main qualities: the colour deepens around the creases, giving each pair character. Regular care helps develop this patina while keeping the leather supple.

Can you wear men’s boots in the rain?

Yes, provided you apply a waterproofing treatment before the wet season and leave them to air-dry, never on a radiator. For the wettest days, Feno is available in water-repellent leather.

When can you start wearing men’s boots?

From the first cooler days of September through to spring. A suede pair like Mazio or Nevo works well between seasons, while pull-up and box leather come into their own in the depths of winter.
